WNC Veterinary Hospital was established in 1975. The first site was a rented mobile home on Long Shoals Road. The veterinary practice then mainly consisted of horses and cows, with only a few pets. One year later, land was purchased and we relocated
to a small house also on Long Shoals Road.
During the next few months, we planned and built an approximately 5000 square foot facility, taking occupancy in the summer of 1977.
In the 1980's, the practice became an even mix of small and large animals. Then in 1996, we became an exculsive small animal hospital.
In mid 2002, Dr Al Hughes and Dr Joe Nesbitt broke ground and began construction on a new, state of the art facility on Pond Street in Arden. We opened the doors on January 20, 2003.
On February 18, 2009, Dr Brett Young purchased WNC Veterinary Hospital becoming the sole owner. Dr Hughes and Dr Nesbitt continue to work in the practice.
We are proud to not only have highly qualified staff members, but also advanced medical equipment and technology for the benefit of our patients and their owners. Throughout the years, WNC Veterinary Hospital has continued its tradition of
providing the best veterinary care possible. We look forward to continuing with this precedent.
